Kanye West made headlines over the weekend after he went on a few extensive Twitter rants, revealing to fans on Saturday, February 13, that he’s currently $53 million in personal debt.
One day later, the 38-year-old rapper decided to reach out to one of the most influential men in America to get a little help: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
“Mark Zuckerberg I know it’s your bday but can you please call me by 2mrw…” the dad-of-two wrote on Twitter. “You love hip hop, you love my art… I am your favorite artist but you watch me barely breathe and still play my album in your house…”
Zuckerberg did not publicly respond to West’s request for funding, though he did show his confusion in another, more subtle way.
According to Complex.com, Steve Grimm, a software engineer who used to work at Facebook, wrote a snarky comment to hit back at West’s puzzling outburst — and the billionaire “liked” it!
“Dear Kanye West: If you’re going to ask the CEO of Facebook for a billion dollars, maybe don’t do it on Twitter,” Grimm wrote in the now-deleted post.
West has since also reached out to other influencers to try to generate buzz around the ideas on his Donda chart.
“All you dudes in San Fran play rap music in your homes but never help the real artists,” he continued. “You’d rather open up one school in Africa like you really helped the country… if you want to help… help me…”
