Mantra Motorbike to introduce welfare fund for Boda Boda riders

Mantra Motorbike EA, a leading automotive dealer, has announced plans to introduce a welfare fund for Boda Boda riders. This was revealed during a ceremony held on Thursday at their showroom located at Ghats Complex in Industrial area as they officially welcomed Hero MotoCorp to the Ugandan market. Hero MotoCorp is the world’s largest two-wheeler company by unit sales and are makers of motorcycles called HERO.

Speaking at the event, Ankush Arora, the Chief Operations Officer AL Mansour Automotive group, noted that Boda Boda riders form the biggest part of their customers and creating a fund for them is one way they are trying to improve their welfare.

“We want to introduce a fund to improve welfare of Boda Boda riders,” Arora said. “We will contribute a dollar towards this fund for every sale we make and this will cater to any calamity that Boda Boda riders may face.”

During the ceremony, four motorcycles were launched and these are; the Dawn 100, Dawn 125, Dawn 150 TR and scooter Destini 125.

According to Gaurav Anand, the Head of Business Unit, Mantra Motorbike EA, the newly launched motorcycles will cater to needs of the Boda Boda segment as well as commuting needs for individuals.“The four newly launched bikes have different performance parameters, giving the end-user options that best suit their needs. The dawn 100 is pocket friendly; ideal for the local Boda Boda business, The dawn 125 is perfectly suited for rough street roads or hilly areas, the Destini 125 scooter and the dawn 150 are your safest bet for office errands and delivery businesses.” He explained.

Mantra Motorbike EA Limited operates showrooms and workshops at Jinja Road & Ndeeba which are stocked with a complete range of spare parts.

Apart from Kampala, Hero motorcycles are available in Mbale, Arua & Isingiro, through the dealership network of Mantra Motorbike EA and soon they will be available across the country.

“The motorcycle taxi industry is presently growing rapidly and therefore calls for motorcycles that are leading with innovation, performance and plush comfort; attributes the Hero bikes offer. This makes them some of the most sought-after bikes on the market. Operations have been ongoing for a couple of months with an assembly plant in Ntinda Industrial area, a sales outlet in Ndeeba, and the showroom/main offices on Jinja road. Therefore, Mantra Motorbike East Africa, the sole distributors of the bikes are fully capable of supplying and maintaining the performance and longevity of the bikes in the market.” Commented Mohamad Khadr, Country General Manager Uganda, Mantra Motorbike East Africa Ltd and MAC East Africa.

Mantra Motorbike EA is part of AL Mansour Automotive group, which is one of the largest General Motors dealers with brands such as Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac & AC Delco along with Opel, Peugeot, MG & Isuzu.
