West Ham forward Diafra Sakho is at the centre of a “headbutt” bust-up with Luke Shaw.
The defender left the pitch with a black eye in the Reds’ 2-1 win at Old Trafford on Saturday and Sakho is alleged to have clashed with the Manchester United youngster in an off-the-ball incident missed by officials.
Shaw remonstrated with one of referee Lee Mason’s assistants for their perceived failure to act upon the incident.
The Football Association will wait to see if the alleged episode is included in Mason’s match report, but do not need to receive a complaint to act.
If the FA find that the Hammers’ Senegalese striker did strike Shaw off the ball, he could be banned for three games for violent conduct.
