An Indianapolis man is sitting in jail right now wishing he had used his brains instead of selling them online.
David Charles was arrested recently, accused of selling the brain tissue of dead mental patients preserved in jars from the Indiana Medical History Museum, USA Today reported. He had allegedly been breaking into the museum and stealing the brains, which were then sold through a middleman on eBay — because apparently there’s a market for that sort of thing.
Maybe he figured no one else was selling brain tissue on eBay so he could totally dominate the niche? Seems like a no brainer.
Unfortunately, the business was cut short after a buyer from San Diego noticed labels from the museum on the containers he had purchased and, thinking something seemed a little off, contacted the Indiana Medical History Museum. Yes, the guy who paid $600 for six jars of brain tissue on eBay was the one who realized something was a little off.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was notified and set up a sting operation to catch Charles. A meeting was set up at a Dairy Queen parking lot and Charles was arrested. Dairy Queen seems like the perfect spot — home of the brain freeze.
