Makerere University Guild President Churchill Ssentamu, the son of NUP politician Chairman Nyanzi, has opened up about a personal heartbreak that shaped part of his journey.

Speaking candidly, Churchill revealed that his former girlfriend broke up with him during a tough financial period in his life, branding him as “less ambitious.”
“She said I wasn’t poor, I was just working. I didn’t have as much money to take care of her, so she thought I didn’t have ambitions, that I didn’t have a future ahead of me,” Churchill shared.
At the time, Churchill admits he was still finding his footing. Now, as the current Makerere Guild President, he has proven himself as a young leader with growing influence, coming from a family with deep political roots.
His uncle, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, is the country’s biggest opposition leader.
Despite the painful experience, Churchill says he harbors no bitterness. Instead, he wishes his ex-girlfriend had been more patient but maintains that he wishes her well.
“I wish she understood and gave me time, but I have nothing against her. I truly wish her the best,” he added.
