Major Lazer show in Kampala

By Our Reporter

American stars, Major Lazer lived up to their billing at their much anticipated show that was held at the Sheraton Hotel gardens on Monday evening. The EDM trio of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire, despite arriving in Kampala late in the afternoon on d-day, staged an electrifying performance during their set that lasted for about one and a half hours.

Taking over the stage at around 10.30 pm, the trio was welcomed with wild cheers and ululations as they went on to get the crowd raving to electronic music. With a hype man to work the crowd, they had the audience moving to their beat. They got revelers dancing to popular hit songs till they got drenched in their own sweat, and those who could not take the heat took their shirts off all the while screaming themselves hoarse.

During their set they also sampled several Ugandan songs, much to the delight of the crowd. The experience was amplified by the laser beams and strobes lighting up the stage that amped up the party’s thrilling effect.

When the curtains finally came down on the show at the stroke of midnight, the dazed crowd was hesitant at departing the venue. For revelers who had thronged the Sheraton gardens in droves, it was evident they were still yearning for more.

The Club beer-sponsored show also featured Djeff Afrozilla from Angola, and Ugandan deeejays, RPM, BK and Silverback. The partiers were also treated to music performances from Beenie Gunter, Fik Fameica and A Pass.
