FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo has rewarded the Uganda Cranes 2015 CECAFA Cup squad generously to congratulate them on winning the tournament.
Uganda beat Rwanda 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Addis Ababa national stadium in Ethiopia to win a record 14th CECAFA title, thanks to Ceasar Okhuti’s heroic goal of the day.
The team which arrived home yesterday was treated to a welcome dinner at Windsor Lake Victoria hotel and also rewarded with half of the prize money ($15,000 of $30,000) that they received upon winning the regional tournament on top of their allowances they have reportedly already been given.
“We promised the players and officials that half the prize money won at the tournament would be shared among the entire contingent. We are glad that the players have won the tournament,” FUFA President Moses Magogo is quoted on the federations’ website.
The local football governing body leader also credited the tournament for the experience it has given the players ahead of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) finals that will kick-off on 17th January in Rwanda.
“We believe the players have added miles in their legs. They will now head to the 2016 CHAN Finals with added experience from the CECAFA Senior Challenge cup,” Moses Magogo further revealed before adding that the campaign 2019 is on the right track.
