Mad Rat and Chiko in the Jazz laftaz comedy show

Comedy duo Mad Rat and Chiko doing their thing.

By Our Reporter

After their successful show early last year, the dynamic comedy duo of Madrat & Chiko –real names Dickson Lubega and Frank Mubiru– have been on a roll, with their comedy acts and shows growing by the number.

And by the time next week starts, the profile of the ever-improving duo will have risen a notch higher, for the comic pair is set to headline performances at the prestigious Singleton challenge slated to take place at Entebbe Golf Club this Saturday.

The duo will be the lead entertainers for golfers and guests at the exclusive 19th Hole Experience at the Entebbe Club –and you can be sure that after the golfers are done with Round two of the challenge on the greens, they will have to laugh their stomachs out.

Madrat and Chiko will not be the only comedians in the house; they will be performing alongside famed President Museveni imitator Teacher Mpamiire, as well as the event’s host Patrick Salvado Idringi.

When asked about how they are able to communicate at corporate events, given they came through the ranks as a primarily downtown comedy outfit, the duo were candid in their inevitably funny way: “There is a saying that ‘desperate situations call for desperate measures.’ We didn’t complete school and truth be told, our English is not the best, but we will speak it when we have to. At most corporate events, we are pushed to the wall, but at the end of the day we come out of it and smile all the way to the bank. People should expect the best”.

The grand prize for the winning pair of this year’s Singleton Challenge is a fully-paid golfing trip to watch the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic, a series which has featured some of golf’s best players, including Tiger Woods and Henrik Stenson.

Education is the key to success, they say. Considering the importance of education in development of society at large, socialite Shafique Katumba alias Katsha De’bank has pledged to offer free education to underprivileged children. Through his charity organisation, The Katsha Foundation, he hopes to change the lives of many Ugandans by playing a role in education development of the vulnerable segment of the society.

According to Katsha, the foundation is actively engaged in a number of charitable projects but the area of education is closer to his heart. He has a dream to see that every child is in school and plans to establish a boarding school where children from down trodden class of the society will be admitted and they will be provided with good education. Those admitted children will not only be educated at the school level but they will be financed and properly looked after till their graduation from the higher education institutes in order to make them a valuable resource for this society.

“We at the Katsha Foundation firmly believe in our motto which clearly stipulates that ‘Educate a Child and Develop a Future Family,'” Katsha noted.
