Lweza fc

By James Robert Kayindi

Just weeks after a player by the names of Ssekimwanyi Farouk of Nkumba University died at a football pitch in Kyengera during a training session, Lweza FC has also lost a player. The newly promoted club, Lweza FC has suffered a big blow after the death of their striker known as Frank Lutalo a.k.a Majja.

This was by far very shocking and a serious setback to the plans of the club with the league just left with just a few days to kick off. The cause for Lutalo’s death remains unclear, however sources close to the late Lutalo suggest a brain tumor as the cause for his passing. It’s alleged that the player suffered a blood clot in his brain after a head-to-head collusion with another teammate during a training session at Uganda Clays sports grounds in Kajjansi.

“He has been with a long history of a worrying headache which is believed to have resulted from a brain tumor”, a close friend to the deceased says. He was admitted at the national referral hospital in Mulago where he passed on 2 days later.

He has previously featured for Katale football club now Artland f.c in the Wakiso first division and the FUFA Big league. “It is such a big loss for we shall miss his services. He was a quite brilliant and shape in front of goal,” Ronald Mutegesi explains to BigEye Sports in deep sadness. Ronald is a former teammate at Ndiga clan in the Bika Bya Baganda football tournament.

Frank Lutalo also featured for Kooki ssaza in the Buganda Masaza tournament. “Uganda has missed a Geofrey Sserunkuma kind of striker. His ball control, quick dashes and eye for goal was superb ,” Meddie Mukiri, a former teammate at Kooki ssaza said. Lutalo was buried yesterday at Ndejjein Kanyanya along Gayaza road.

What a loss! May his soul Rest in Peace.
