Lweza Football Club held league leaders KCCA FC to a one-all draw at Muteesa II memorial stadium in Wankulukuku on Tuesday evening in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).
Following a barren first half, the Kasasari Boys took the lead 20 minutes (65th minute) into the second half when Derrick Nsibambi broke the deadlock.
KCCA who had managed a late 1-0 win against bottom side Maroons FC over the weekend failed to hold their defence lines as the Kajjansi Boys leveled matters through the experienced Geoffrey Ssenrunkuma on the 80th minute mark. The result leaves KCCA FC top of the league with a six point lead on 48 points from 23 games while Lweza FC are 10th with 31 points after 25 games.
On the same day, the league defending champions Vipers Sports Club edged Bright Stats 1-0 at Champion stadium in Mwererwe, Matugga. Defender Deus Bukenya scored the only goal of the game with just 6 minutes to full time when he headed home from Erisa Ssekisambu’s corner.
The massive victory saw Vipers move to 42 points in second place, only six points behind leaders KCCA who have played a game more. With a game-in-hand for George ‘Best’ Nsimbe’s side and clash with the leaders slated for 29th-April-2016 at Nakivubo, Vipers will be hoping to level points with Mike Mutebi’s side.
