Villai Bianomugisha is now history in the records of Uganda Premier League (UPL) side and league debutants Lweza Football Club after he threw in the towel due to threats on his personal life from the fans.
Villai was with the Kajjansi based side since the Big League and guided them to promotion into the UPL but with barely half the season in command, Bianomugisha started receiving threatening messages and insults on his life and family from the unhappy fans due to the club’s poor performance.
After threats on his life in November, Villai took a break from his duties as head coach and since then he has not returned to duty even when the club owners still wanted him in control.
For that matter therefore the club has promoted his former assistant Hamza Kalanzi to become the new head coach of the Kajjansi based club. Before the end of the first round of the UPL, Kalanzi took charge of the club as interim coach and guided them in four matches winning one, drawing one and losing two in the process.
