Kenyan Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o set yet another new record for the Kenyan acting industry by becoming the first ever Kenyan to bag a BET Award.
Lupita beat Hollywood bigwigs Oprah Winfrey, Gabrielle Union, Angela Basset and Kerry Washington to clinch the ‘Best Actress’ category.
After Camp Mulla’s nomination in 2012 as the first ever Kenyan BET nominee, Lupita has finally brought the trophy home.
Ever since her Oscar win, Lupita has been on a successful streak. She received rave reviews for her role in action-packed series ‘Non-stop’, has graced the cover of Vogue, became the face of Lacombe and recently announced that she has acquired the rights to produce a film adaptation of Nigerian literary star Chimamanda Ngozi’s latest novel ‘Americanah.’
