Micheal Busingye, an enrolled medical nurse in Nakaseke District has become the first lucky winner of an all-expense paid trip to the United Kingdom to watch his favorite soccer stars in action in the ongoing Guinness Get Booked Promotion.

The 31-year-old resident of Entebbe is the first in a line of six winners to win a ticket to watch a live football match in the UK.

Asked how he felt about winning the ticket, the soft spoken Businge was at loss for words before managing to utter; “It was just God’s grace because I played the Get Booked promotion just 5 times as I watched soccer at a bar in Entebbe.”

Businge who works at a health center in Nakaseke District, “I thought these were lies that people were being told to make them drink more beer but this isn’t the case, it is real.”

The ‘Guinness Get Booked; Win a trip to the UK’ promotion will see a total of six Guinness consumers win tickets to the United Kingdom to watch their favorite teams and players live in action in one of the world’s biggest leagues.

The draws to pick the winners of the trip to the UK will be announced every month with the live draws being televised on NBS television, the official broadcast partner of the Get Booked promotion. NBS TV is also the only authorized free to air Television to broadcast the English Premier League in Uganda.

Phoebe Nakabazzi, the Guinness Brand Manager says that the promotion is aimed at giving Guinness consumers the chance to not only enjoy the match at their favorite bar, but also the chance to experience an actual football experience in the UK.

“The Guinness Get Booked promotion aims to reward consumer loyalty. As long as you are a Guinness consumer, there is something in this campaign for you. We have so many prizes up for grabs throughout the duration of the campaign,” she said.

To participate in the promotion, customers have to buy Guinness, check under the crown for a code and then send an SMS with the code to 6050 for a chance to win either instant airtime or enter the grand draw for a chance to win a trip to the UK. The more codes one sends, the higher their chances of winning.

The ongoing Guinness Get Booked promotion that will run till the end of the year will reward loyal Guinness consumers and football fans alike with various prizes that include UGX800 million worth of airtime; 8,000 consumers will win airtime every week, soccer balls, t-shirts among others.

The Guinness Get Booked promotion will also come alive in-bar with the Yellow and Red card concept during live football games. Here, anyone found enjoying Guinness will be booked and asked to choose either a yellow card for an instant prize or a red card for instant entry into the draw to determine a winner to watch a live football match in the UK.

Across Africa, Guinness has built a strong legacy around football through strategic sponsorships that have given football fans the opportunity to enjoy the world’s best loved game even more.

Guinness the World’s leading stout is the brainchild behind past consumer engagement activities such as the popular television show Guinness Football Challenge which was replicated in other East and West African countries, Guinness Football Manager, Guinness VIP, Guinness Make it happen campaign and the Ticket to Greatness campaign.
