The 2025 National Martyrs Choral Festival concluded on Saturday at the Kampala Serena hotel as Morning Glory and St. Charles Lwanga Lubaga Cathedral Choirs emerged as the big winners.

Morning Glory Choir from St. Apollo Kivebulaya Church of Uganda in Entebbe took first place in the Anglican category. They beat Rwenzori Diocese Kampala Fellowship Choir (All Saints Cathedral, Kampala), who came second, and The Shepherd’s Choir from St. Augustine Church of Uganda in Lira City, who finished third.

St. Charles Lwanga Lubaga Cathedral Choir claimed the top spot in the Catholic category. Our Lady Seat of Wisdom SS Kasawo Choir (Lugazi Diocese) came second, while All Saints Choir from Christ the King Catholic Parish in Arua Diocese finished third.

All six choirs each received cash prizes: UGX 10 million for winners, UGX 5 million for first runners-up, and UGX 3 million for second runners-up.

Organised by Vision Group and sponsored by Equity bank, the festival was a beautiful mix of music, worship, and remembrance. As the choirs sang in honour of the Uganda Martyrs, the event reminded everyone of the power of music to inspire, uplift, and bring people together.

The grand finale featured six top choirs—three from the Catholic Church and three from the Anglican Church—who made it through months of regional competitions and rehearsals.

The festival is geared towards promoting unity, conversation, and cooperation among different Christian communities. The festival brings together people from different church groups to enjoy and celebrate Uganda’s rich Christian musical traditions.
