Local musician Bennie Venture who has been in the shadows for a while but was once a star is dead. You might probably not know this one, but he was a youthful and talented musician.
Bennie Venture was the current gang leader of the almost defunct music group, the Daf Entertainment crew. Venture had his career breakthrough in 2005 and 2006, it was a short-lived one but it still echoes in our minds. He was the first Ugandan artiste to release songs with a reggae-tone touch and inspired many artists and DJs to play reggae tone music in the country. With his hits like Bonga and Kakomo popular in down town bars and clubs, Venture enjoyed a short lived music fame, but worthwhile.
On Monday night, Bennie Venture breathed his last at his father’s home in Mbuya where he has been receiving treatment for a very long time due body organ failure. Burial preparations are ongoing right now at his ancestral home in Fort Portal where he will be laid to rest today.
RIP Bennie Venture, May the Lord Judge your soul with Mercy.
