The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) in collaboration with the Uganda Police Force on Saturday night made an abrupt operation on bars that were operating past curfew time.
The KCCA raid saw a number of people arrested which included celebrities that had overly been rumored staunch revelers in bars and parties during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Among these included; Next Media’s presenter Gaetano Kaggwa, musician Hillary Kiyaga aka Dr Hilderman, socialite Shanitah Namuyimbwa aka Bad Black and Sheila Carol Gashumba.
The operation was headed by KCCA’s Ssetende who appealed to the Inspector General of Police to warn his officers against interfering with their operations as they are fond of shielding bar owners who bleach the guidelines on curbing Corona Virus pandemic.
However, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango however denied Mr. Ssetende’s claims.
Patrick Onyango instead noted that the Police have often worked collectively with KCCA during such operations against errant bars and only harmonious joint operations have been experienced in this.
Bars and concerts are part of other sectors that President Yoweri Museveni has not lifted since his directive to closure in March as measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Reports still insist that partying in night hangouts by celebrities and other fabled names is an intense trend now in Uganda.
