Former Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) President, Lawrence Mulindwa yesterday launched his manifesto as he prepares to run for the highest seat in football in East Africa at Pope Paul Hotel in Ndebba, Kampala.
The Vipers Sports Club and St. Mary’s Kitende Secondary School proprietor has been serving as the CECAFA Vice President and has now decided to run for presidency having served the sport for the last 18-years, eight of which he was the leader of the local football governing body in Uganda.
“After 18 years in football as President of Vipers Sports Club, President of a National Association (FUFA), Vice President of CECAFA, member of standing committee of FIFA and CAF, the game has become part of my life and that is why I want to continue serving it,” Mulindwa remarked.
His presidential aspirations were supported by FUFA who led his nomination team. Mulindwa promised to improve youth and women football, beach soccer as well as make CECAFA financially self-sustaining by getting it sponsors.
He also mentioned that the CECAFA region has never had a country to play at the FIFA world cup, a dream he wishes to make come true should he be voted into power this Friday, November 20th during the CECAFA elective Assembly sitting in Ethiopia.
The Assembly will also be sitting to discuss the forth coming 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge cup.
