Lapaire set to offer free eye testing services

By Our Reporter

Lapaire, a pan-African eyewear brand, has launched a campaign to offer free eye examination services to the masses across the country.

The new campaign, dubbed “your eyes wellbeing is our priority”, was announced during a press conference held at their head offices in Kisementi, Kampala on Wednesday.

Speaking to media, Oliver Wambile, the Communications officer at Lapaire revealed that the campaign will also raise awareness about common sight problems and their impact on people’s daily life.

“Throughout the campaign, we will educate people about their eyes’ well-being and share eye care tips, on top of carrying out free eye screenings and testing for every willing individual across Uganda.” Oliver Wambile noted.

According to the Ministry of Health, over 1.2 million Ugandans are estimated to be visually impaired through short sightedness while 250,000 are totally blind.

Reports further show that rising numbers of vision impairment cases are mostly due to ageing populations, changing lifestyles and limited access to eye care.

“Our professionals will carry out free community eye screenings and testing in different locations such as malls, corporate entities, social organizations, churches, mosques, schools, workshops, seminars and speaking engagements across Uganda.” Wambile added.

“And for those that will need Eyeglasses in order to correct their refractive errors, Lapaire will be offering them a tailor-made service and quality eyeglasses from UGX 105,000, lenses and frame included.” He concluded.

The “Your Eyes Well Being Is Our Priority” campaign will run until the end of the year.

Lapaire currently has three optical shops in the country which are located in Kampala, Jinja, and Mbarara. There are however plans to further expand to more locations across the country before the end of 2021.
