Singer Lady Mariam has come out strongly in defense of State Minister for Minerals Phiona Nyamutoro, warning events promoter Nobat Events against what she described as “disrespectful attacks” toward women.

Nobat, who recently criticized Eddy Kenzo over his involvement in NRM campaigns and alleged payments to performing artists, dragged Kenzo’s wife Nyamutoro into the discussion — a move that angered Lady Mariam.
Speaking through a series of TikTok videos and during her appearance on BBS TV, Lady Mariam didn’t hold back her disappointment.
“Norbert, I don’t have much of a problem with him, and I’m someone who rarely speaks out because I mind my business,” Lady Mariam said. “But what Norbert did was abuse someone who is harmless and isn’t involved in any of their differences.”
She added that she felt hurt seeing how the matter was being ignored, prompting her to step in and demand respect for Nyamutoro and all women.
“He should have solved his issues with Kenzo and not tag his family in it. That’s different, and that’s where my anger came from,” she emphasized.
Lady Mariam concluded by warning Nobat that disrespecting Phiona Nyamutoro is equivalent to disrespecting all women, saying, “He’s going to get his fire if he continues.”
