Kwivuga is back. The show that had died out because of a mixture of entertainment flavors has finally gone back to its original roots of poetry and has started showing again. Kwivuga happens every first Monday of the month at Legends bar, Lugogo.
With the organizers turning it into hip hop gigs or one of the comedy nights; attendants dropped, sponsors left and finally on June 26, Kwivuga closed shop. However, the show bounced back with a new venue, vision and energy at Legends bar in Lugogo, their new residence. The last show was on Monday, 3rd November. Though female rapper Keko Town made an appearance, the show still kept to the book of poetry.
Linda Butare, the show founder, is doing it like this because she hopes Ugandans get to love the art for what it really is. “Poetry is therapy, it is about opening up, and it is an art that has to be appreciated,” she said.
