Probably no one saw this coming but yes, it’s happening, Salvado, Alex Muhangi, Kapale officially join their former nemesis Napoleone Ehmah and Dolibondo at Laftaz Comedy Lounge.
It all started with the Krackers getting stuck during their preparations for the Africa Laughs show that will feature Basket Mouth from Nigeria.
The Krackers wanted to create enthusiasm and promote the show by holding upcountry shows but finances were a huge stumbling block. There was however an option…the Laftaz Team has regular upcountry shows sponsored by Mirinda under ‘Mirinda Comedy.’ All they needed to do was swallow humble pie and request the Laftaz to give them some of the slots.
Jonathan Kyeyo, the Laftaz Marketing Manager took advantage of this situation and thought of tying the Krackers to a contract that makes them part of Laftaz. With no alternative, the Krackers agreed as this was a condition for Mirinda to allow them use their resources.
Then Napoleone (the schemer like the real Bonaparte) came into the picture. Seeing that the HAHA comedy team at La’Bonita was bringing serious competition with the help of free adverts from GO-tv, he saw this as an opportunity to wipe the La’Bonita team off the comedy map. He advocated for a clause in the contract which would compel Krackers to perform monthly at Laftaz as part of the normal Laftaz Comedy programming and also to use their social media platforms to always advertise the Laftaz shows and attend as regularly as possible. This, he saw as a blow that would eliminate any competing group from the comedy scene.
Dolibondo has however failed to come to terms with the goings on as he still holds his beef with Salvado and Alex Muhangi. He is reported to have protested the whole idea and stormed out of the meeting when Napoleone, who was originally against the idea, changed his mind and chose to work with his former foes.
The contract starts operating this Wednesday and Thursday as the Krackers host the Omondi brothers at Laftaz.
