American jazz saxophonist and songwriter Kirk Whalum arrived in Uganda last night for a Rotary concert happening tomorrow.

The renown Saxophonist who toured with Whitney Houston for more than seven years and soloed in her single “I Will Always Love You”, the best-selling single by a female artist in music history visited the Rotary blood bank at Mengo hospital today ahead of his concert ‘Kirk Whalum live’ happening at Serena Hotel tomorrow.

According to World Health Organization standards (WHO), Uganda needs at least 350,000 units of safe blood annually yet our country collects 250,000 units of blood leaving a deficit of approximately 100,000 units of blood annually.

Kirk Whalum is in Uganda to fundraise for the blood bank in Mengo through the concert sponsored by Stanbic Bank, New Vision, DFCU Bank among others.
