King Michael has taken a swipe at fellow artists engaging in the trending “hit list” debate, arguing that the value of a musician cannot be measured by the number of hit songs they claim to have.
Speaking during an interview on Sanyuka TV, King Michael dismissed the idea popularized by Pallaso, who recently challenged artists—excluding legends like Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine—to prove themselves by listing at least 20 hit songs.
According to King Michael, the conversation misses the point entirely.
He emphasized that a truly great song transcends time, describing a classic as music that resonates across generations rather than dominating charts for a moment.
“If God helps you and you get a classic song, you are blessed. Now me I have about 3–4 classics so you can’t compare me to any of their hits. A classic song is a song for all generations,” he said.
The singer likened the music industry to a race, noting that success is often temporary and unpredictable.
“Singing is like a race, someone can outpace you at any time, so anyone can shine at a given time,” he added.
King Michael further declared that he considers himself already accomplished, suggesting he has moved beyond the current competition among artists.
“I see them fighting yet I already reached the finish line.”
