Tanzania Kilimanjaro Queens had no mercy for Uganda Crest Cranes as they thrashed them 4-1 in the second semifinal of the CECAFA Women Championship played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru, Jinja.
The Crest Cranes not only forgot their scoring boots behind in the opening 45 minutes but also got their defence mechanisms wrong as they conceded thrice before recess. Daniel Donisia opened the scoring inside four minutes with a well taken free kick from the edge of the 18-yard box while Omari Mwanahamisi doubled the lead just after 14 minutes.
Tanzania’s domination of the game forced the Crested Cranes’ head coach Majidah Nantanda into a substitution inside twenty four minutes with Christine Nambirige coming on for Yudaya Nakayenze.
Abdalla Stumai netted the third shortly before halftime whereas skipper Rashid Asha struck the fourth as soon as the second stanza kicked off.
Very late in the game, Hasifa Nassuna picked a consolation for the hosts to mark her fifth goal of the tournament. As it stands now, Uganda will play Ethiopia in the fight for the third place while Tanzania will battle Kenya in the finals on Tuesday at Njeru in Jinja.
Earlier on in the day, the Kenyan Starlets came from a goal behind to beat Ethiopia 3-2 as the tournament takes its final stages.
