Kenyan rapper G Rongi will make history in Kenya’s hip hop books when and if he collabos with international hip hop icon Nas, as speculated on his social media. G Rongi Matigari who is now based in Europe hinted that renown American rapper Nas could feature on his song.
The Ukoo Flani member who recently came to Kenya to launch his new project “Mukuri Nu” has also featured in a song that had American hip hop artists M1 of Dead Prez and Umi of POW. The two had toured Kenya in a project dubbed ” Ni Wakati’.
If his collabo with Nas sees the light of day, it will be G rongi’s second big break as his voice will be heard across the world as a result of Nas’ global influence. Speaking to Vibeweekly Girongi said he was working on projects with the Illmatic rapper part of which includes mentoring him on a book he is writing.
Girongi also revealed to Vibeweekly that he met Nas through Harvard University proffesors who lecture on his music. “Nas is doing final touches on the chorus, we are also going to work on other projects , we are talking about lots of things” he said adding that his album will be released together with his book. “I am going to release my album together with a book but i cant reveal everything now, i will put the word out when everything is ready”
