Top dancehall musician Redsan was arrested over the weekend.
According to the Police, Redsan a.k.a Mohamed Swabir and his entourage arrived at the International Trade Fair grounds on Friday and refused to get screened. Redsan was set to perform but that went out the window as police arrested him alleging they had spotted a gun on one of his people.
Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam said of the arrest,”We had to search the group for the safety of people who were there. They refused to be searched and drove off, which raised the suspicion of the police.”
Redsan and three others were heading to the CBD from the Nairobi showground when they were intercepted along Uhuru Highway. They were then taken to the cells where they stayed till Saturday afternoon after the one in possession of the firearm was found clean as he had a license allowing him to carry the weapon.
Redsan reportedly terms the incident as a ‘bad experience’ and claims it showed him the ‘other side of justice’. ” We hope our names will be cleared because we are not terrorists,” he was quoted saying, “We urge police to treat us as Kenyans.”
