The CAF Executive Committee reportedly made the decision in Cairo, Egypt, on February 21st.

“The CAF Executive Committee has designated Kenya as host of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN), following receipt of necessary government guarantees and complete dossier including the required infrastructure and security,” stated the communication from CAF.

The CAF Executive Committee thanked also thanked The South African President, Jacob Zuma and his government, the Local Organizing Committee and the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) for the excellent organisation of the 2014 CHAN event tournament, which served as a rendezvous of African football.
