The female Emcee has a unique sense of style. She incorporates all the latest trends including the African print in her fashion choices. And for those that thought she was all about the tom-boy look, did you know that Keko owns a few gomesi’s in her wardrobe? I thought so. Well, you can thank us later.
Your style sense is…
My style sense is casual, sleek tomboy chic. I like a balance between casual and sophisticated.
Do you have a fetish for trends?
Yes, I do love trends that are unique. I follow runway couture looks, the fashion industry always has something new every minute and it’s always good to know what’s on or not, and then pick and choose.
What is your fashion addiction?
My fashion addiction is definitely shoes. I love shoes and blazers.
What is your most prized fashion item, and for how long have you had it?
Most-prized possession would be my sunglasses, particularly this pair I’ve had for about two years.
What is the one item that has stayed in your wardrobe longest?
My blazers tend to stay in my closet for quite a long time.
We see you in a lot of pants and shorts, do you have any skirts or maxi dresses in your wardrobe?
I only have gomesis that I wear to functions. Skirts and maxis are not my cup of tea.
Which is the one item in your wardrobe that you would never let go of?
I love my coats – I wouldn’t give them away for anything!
What are some of the irritating fashion blunders you notice with Kampala men?
Men who tuck in their tee shirts amuse me. It’s unbelievable.
Which Ugandan celebrity’s wardrobe would you wish to get your styling skills on, and give a total revamp?
In Uganda, Juliana or Sheebah. I know how to pick clothes.
Which international celebrity’s wardrobe would you die to have?
I’d kill for Rihanna’s wardrobe, she is fashionista supreme.
Do you have any memorable wardrobe malfunction?
No malfunctions yet, still praying hard.
How much of your monthly budget do you spend on your wardrobe?
A small fraction is dedicated to my fashion shopping. Only when I’m running out of options do I go out and buy more. Shopping addiction is unhealthy.
You can never have enough of…
I can never have enough of shoes and sunglasses.
Is there any difference between your fashion choices in your music videos, and in your day-to-day outfits?
Yes, when I’m not in front of the camera, I am less casual which is my day-to-day style. I like comfort off-camera.
What is the connection between Keko the person, and her fashion choices?
Keko is one with her style, what you see is how I feel at that time. I dress to define myself.
