Keeping Live Music Alive with Johnnie Walker’s All Music Safari

It is no doubt that everyone of us has a particular kind of music genre that appeals to or ‘vibes’ and fuels our soul. This year, Johnnie Walker is promising a sensational musical concert that many Ugandan music lovers are excitedly anticipating dubbed the “30th All Music Safari.” It slated to take place on November 30 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Veteran music promoter Tshaka Mayanja, the man behind the Jazz and Soul Safaris will mark his 30th anniversary in the business at the concert that will be headlined by American singer, songwriter, Mýa.

Addressing media at a press conference held on Friday October 25 at Industrial based nightclub, Guvnor, Tshaka Mayanja, revealed his delight in bringing music lovers different sessions of entertainment and music genres in one big exciting concert.

“As we celebrate 30 years in the music industry, a gratifying milestone, we would like to assure our fans that this concert will be one unforgettably thrilling experience. We have put in outstanding work to bring you the most unique concert for all soulful music lovers out there,” said Mayanja.

The internationally acclaimed American artist, Mýa is widely recognized for her RnB musical prowess with several hit songs that speak to the soul like Take Me There, Case of the Ex and Girls Dem Sugar that have achieved the status of timeless classics. She will be performing for her first time in Uganda, sharing the stage with homegrown talents like Myko Ouma, Kenneth Mugabi and Joseph Sax amongst many others.

“This year’s All Music Safari will be exceptional. Johnnie Walker is excited to be bringing you a phenomenal artist like Mya who is truly an icon of progress and we are looking forward to an amazing evening,” said Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Luxury Portfolio at Uganda Breweries Limited, which is sponsoring the concert under its Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve brand.

Limited early bird tickets are on sale at UGX85,000 while Platinum/VIP tickets go for UGX300,000. Regular tickets will cost UGX100,000.

Confirmed selling points are at House of Walker, Sheraton, Shell Select Bugolobi, Shell Select Kira Road (Bukoto), Shell Select Kabalagala and Shell Select Lugogo.

Australia based Ugandan singer Shida Florence Drops new song ‘Teili Yolo Mimen’

Australia based Ugandan singer real names, Florence Sida Luka, but commonly known as Shida Florence has released a new love song called “Teili Yolo Mimen”.

Shida Florence is a singer, songwriter, RnB and Afro pop Artist currently working on an album At Likiso Entertainmnet, while releasing singles and Teili Yolo Mimen is the first song she has released off this album.

Shida grew up singing in the church and school choir before she later on became the choir leader. She is one talented female artiste who can not only sing but also play drums and Adungu, an instrument similar to the harp as even back in 2011 while at University, she was cast in the musical “Oliver Twist” and played in sell-out performances in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.

While talking to this website, she revealed how she loves listening to all genres of music but loves gospel more as she wa sinspired by it inorder for her to start singing.

She said;

“I would say African gospel music influenced me, because I spent most of my time in the church and school choir but I can’t say some artists influenced me to write music.”

Florence is a citizen of the world, but the world is yet to discover what she is to offer. She is still working on her singles and music videos: stay tuned to share this amazing talent, greatness in the making.

Patoranking mingles with fans ahead of concert

Revelers flooded Thrones bar and restaurant in Bugolobi to get a glimpse of Nigerian superstar Patoranking on Thursday evening. The newly established bar hosted the Nigerian star ahead of his performance that is slated to take place tonight at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

The No Kissing Baby star arrived in the country in the wee hours of the night amidst a down pour but this did not stop revelers from joyfully welcoming him.

From the Entebbe Airport, Patoranking was driven straight to where he got close and personal with some of the cream de la crèame of the Kampala party scene.

As a welcoming note, the different DJ’s played some of his hit songs like “Jericho” collaboration with Nigerian counterpart “Simi” and “Omu Bwati” his collaboration with Fik Fameica that got the star on his feet and dancing.

The Johnnie Walker sponsored night was not short of entertainment as new kid on the block Grenade who was also in the building performed.

The Night also featured epic music mixes from some of Uganda’s best DJ’s like DJ Kas Baby who hyped up the already lit crowd up till late.

Boom party at comedy store as Cindy, Vinka entertain

It was an all female affair at comedy store as Vinka and Cindy put up rememberable performances at UMA. Both known for their crazy stage performances, the crowd kept on their feet through out the two artistes’ performances.

First was Vinka who stepped on stage with her single Luyimba lyomwaka, before going on rampage with her Love Doctor, Over dose, Sweet Love, Malaika, Sure and closing her exhibition with Mapozi.

Cindy closed the show with an epic performance along her dancers as she thronged through the crowd. The crowd seemed to appreciate her earlier songs but also enjoyed her latest Boom Party.

The comedy show also featured comedians Kalela, MadRat and Chiko, MC Kapale, Uncle Mark among others.

Comedy Store takes place every Thursday at UMA show ground and is hosted by comedian Alex Muhangi.
