The Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) returned yesterday for its second round with a mouthwatering opener between KCCA FC and URA FC at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium at the heart of Kampala.
Following a barren first half, 10-time league champions Kampala Capital City Authority FC managed to consolidate their top spot on the league table with a convincing 3-1 victory over Uganda Revenue Authority FC. Left footed fullback who also doubles as a winger, Joseph Ochaya opened the scoring for the home side with a well taken free kick before Paul Mucureezi doubled the lead for the Kasasiro Boys.
The Tax Collectors got their hopes of getting back into the game when their pedestrian striker Robert Ssentongo pulled one back from 12 yards after a foul in the forbidden area. Minutes later, Muzamiru Mutyaba beat the defence before hammering the last nail into URA’s coffin when he scored the third goal for Mike Mutebi’s side.
Both sides missed a couple of more chances in the game with URA coming very close in the 82nd minute of the game. The result kept the Kasasiro boys in their top spot with 32 points now.
