The Katikiro (Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom) Charles Peter Mayiga is set to grace the Mirinda sponsored Green Festival 2016 event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds this Sunday, September 11th.

According to sources within the Green Festival 2016 family, the Katikiro picked interest in the event because of his love for the protection of Mother Nature.

“He is a strong advocate for environment protection. If you have been following him, planting trees has never missed in his speeches. When he had about this event for kids with a primary aim of protecting the environment, he picked interest,” said a source that preferred anonymity.

According to Mr Joseph Masembe the CEO Uganda Little Hands Go Green and the chief organizer of the Green Festival 2016 event, this year’s event will culminating into planting of more than 50,000 trees.

“We want to make history, we want children to plant forests, not individual trees. Let them be proud of themselves for planting forests not a tree or two, that is our goal this year and going forward, we are giving a very child a Bree fruit tree seedling to plant,” said Masembe.

Mr Timothy Luzinda the Brand Manager Mirinda also resounded Masembe’s words and asked Ugandans to turn up in big numbers for the event.

“Mirinda can Free Your Fun Side in a good environment, lets protect our environment by planting trees. We therefore ask Ugandans to come for the event. Entrance is just shs10, 000 for every child, parents enter free of charge. The event will start as early as 10am,” said Luzinda.
