It was a surprising turn of events as striker Karim Ndugwa reunited with SC Villa barely a year after leaving for Kenyan Premier League club, AFC Leopards.
Karim Ndugwa left the Jogoos during the mid-season transfer window of the 2014/2015 campaign to join AFC Leopards at the time when he was topping the Azam Uganda Premier League top scorers’ log with a tally of 8 goals.
“The player (Ndugwa) loves SC Villa at heart and that is why he did not mind about the money Soana F.C had presented. We have him back at Villa Park. He was part of the classes we had at Kibuli, played in Magumba testimonial and was part of the group pastor Kayanja blessed on Sunday,” SC Villa’s PRO, Abu Zikusooka revealed to Kawowo.
The striker reportedly part ways with his Kenyan employers on a mutual agreement following a contract breach. Since then, Ndugwa has been a free agent and allegedly rebuffed a deal worth $10,000 to join Uganda Premier league side, Soana Football club before making a return to Villa Park.
The player also featured for the Jogoos in the Hakim Magumba testimonial match which Villa won 4-0 with Martin Kizza bagging a hat-trick and returnee Robert Achema scoring the other.
Karim is seen as a perfect replacement for Muhammad Hassan Tooko whose transfer failed after SC Victoria University refused to release him.
SC Villa recruits: Three goal keepers; Samson Kirya, Steven Odong and Ashadu Bugembe from Entebbe F.C, Sporting United and Kira Young respectively, Abel Eturude (Maroons), Robert Achema (BUL F.C), Martin Kizza (KCCA), Jonathan Mugabi (URA), Ambrose Kirya (Jinja Municipal Council), Misi Katende (Soana), Henry Katongole, Godfrey Lwesibawa and Tadeo Lwanga (all from Express F.C).
Villa travel to Mwerere, Matugga to take on Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars on Tuesday, 25th August 2015 in the league opener.
