Kanye West’s fans are hoping he’ll run the US.
The “Run This Town” rapper was elected by social media users to pursue the presidential seat in 2020 after finding Donald Trump to be a dissatisfying choice for the American leader.
West had declared he would run in 2020 while accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the 2015 VMAs.
“It’s about ideas, bro. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” he exclaimed. “And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
Now, social media users are calling upon the musician to keep his promise by getting the hashtag #Kanye2020 trending.
“So #Kanye2020 looks pretty realistic now, huh? #ElectionDay #ElectionHangover,” one social media user wrote, hinting that if Trump can be elected, anything is possible.
“Suddenly the idea of Kanye West becoming president doesn’t only seem possible but may even be an improvement #kanye2020,” another user added.
“In 2004 Kanye saved hip hop, in 2020 he will save America #Kanye2020,” a fellow Twitter user chimed in.
Kanye has previously posed for photos with his wife Kim Kardashian and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and also reportedly made donations to the Democratic National Committee. However, he had not publicly endorsed either candidate.
The “Famous” rapper did not weigh in on the trending hashtag about his possible presidential run.
