Kanye West has defended Drake’s recent alleged comments about his latest album.
The Canadian rapper reportedly said there were some “real questionable bars” on West’s 2013 album Yeezus, but immediately denied he made the comments when the interview was published.
West has lent his support to Drake during his show in New Jersey and declared that the media should stop trying to pit rappers against each other.
“Let me tell you what it is about magazines: they always be trying to pit n***as against each other,” West said. “That ain’t going down anymore.
“We love Drake. If anything, we are going to go after those motherf**kers and their negativity, because before they print s**t like that, they need to check with me and him to see if it’s okay before they get ran up in their motherf**king office.”
West also made further comments about the media’s perception of him and his work, saying that he deserves more respect.
“So every media outlet, I don’t care who you are. Don’t play yourself. Respect as such,” he said. “SNL, all you writers, Lorne Michaels, respect it as such.
“Because when we’re standing face to face, you know who you’re talking at.”
