Kampala Restaurant Week, Uganda’s signature restaurant showcase returns next month, on the heels of the successful first edition held last year. This year’s edition brings on board even more restaurants offering the public a variety of options for dining. The showcase which will be held between June 1st and 11th, has attracted restaurants offering a variety of dining options; from casual to signature dining and even holiday partners.
Last year, Kampala Restaurant Week made its debut on the social calendar allowing over 12,000 people to visit and experience 40 of Kampala’s top restaurants at a discounted price for eleven days. In order to attract even more people, The Pearl Guide has organized the week to coincide with two public holidays (Martyrs Day and Heroes Day). The week at the same time coincides with the tourism peak season.
This year, the unique experience has been shaped around the signature meals that have been created to leave the taste buds of the public with an experience they will always remember. The participating restaurants have each created a Multi-Cuisine three course menu to adequately showcase the city’s internationally competitive food expertise.
Speaking at the launch event, Philip Kalibwani, the Business Development Manager at The Pearl Guide said, “The idea behind Kampala Restaurant Week is to showcase the great restaurants that Kampala has to offer. It’s about giving diners a great food experience at a discounted price. Last year, the restaurants offered a one course meal; however this year, all the restaurants will be offering a signature three course meal specifically created for this showcase.”
The menus are discounted and price-fixed across all restaurants with starters at UGX 10,000, main Courses at UGX 25,000 and desserts at UGX 10,000.
