Kampala Restaurant Week, Uganda’s largest restaurant showcase, returns for the 2nd Edition in 2016 after a remarkable debut in 2015 which saw over 10,000 Kampalans go out to experience the growth and development Kampala’s culinary scene has made in recent years. Forty (40) top restaurants in 2015 all put out creative prix fixe meals (Casual Dishes at UGX 15,000 and Signature Dishes at UGX 25,000) and Kampala was treated to a celebration of the taste buds that saw dishes such as the Nutella Samosa and the Cowboy’s Open Flame Chicken make it onto Kampala’s palate.
Taking place from 1st to 11th June 2016, this year’s Kampala Restaurant Week this year turns it’s creative emphasis to the balance and complexity of the Three (3) Course Meal. All forty (40) participating restaurants will showcase not only creative Main Courses but also Starters and Desserts that promise to raise the industry standard.
This year the 40 Restaurants are also categorized into two (2) categories. Casual Dining Restaurants (which accounts for 90% of all the participating outlets) will price their creations as: Starters / Desserts UGX 10,000 and Main Courses UGX 25,000.
Fine Dining Restaurants will similarly price their creations as: Starters / Desserts UGX 15,000 and Main Courses UGX 35,000.
This year also features one participant from both Entebbe and Jinja as The Pearl Guide intends to show the countrywide growth plan of the restaurant showcase.
With this generous price incentive and the promise of creative memorable culinary experiences outside the ordinary, the 2016 edition of Kampala Restaurant Week promises not only to excite but also to command global attention for Kampala’s restaurant industry.
