The Federation of Uganda Association (FUFA) has confirmed that Kampala region will host the 2016 Uganda Cup final.
According to the local football governing body’s spokesperson Ahmed Hussein, a stadium in which the final will be played is yet to be named but it’s now crystal clear that Kampala Region will host this year’s Uganda Cup final.
Last year, the final was hosted in the Western Region although matters went out of hand for the match day FIFA referee Brain Miiro Nsubuga in Ntugamo forcing the game to be abandoned, only to be replayed ten days later in Kampala at Namboole Stadium.
SC Villa are the defending champions in which three teams have already qualified for the quarters finals of the current edition. The three teams include; Hopes Doves, Bright Stars and Soana FC.
Express FC have won the annual tournament 10 times hence making them the highest winners of the Uganda Cup (formerly known as the Kakungulu cup) while Villa have won it on nine occasions. The 2015 losing finalists of KCCA FC have won it 8 times.
