The Kampala City Festival will on Sunday 6th October, 2013 take the city by storm featuring a line-up of 30 artistes and musicians performing on one stage in a spectacular culmination of the Festival celebrations.
The Festival will see the entire stretch from Watoto Church to Kitgum House closed for the day for the over 100,000 people expected attendance in what promises to be the biggest celebration the capital city has ever seen.
Themed “Our City Our Celebration”, this will be the first event of its magnitude to be hosted by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). Leading the artistes pack will be the festival’s celebrity endorser, Bobi Wine, and the Fire Base Crew.
Also slated to perform will be the cream of Uganda’s artistes, including established names like The Goodlyfe Crew of Radio and Weasel, Ragga Dee, Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi, Coco Finger, Khalifa, Mesach Semakula, Pastor Bugembe, Jamal, Eddy Kenzo, Exodus, Hilderman, Aziz Azion and Omulangira Ssuna among others.
Making the announcement, Jennifer Musisi, KCCA Executive Director said “This will be a great time for Kampala city dwellers to come and celebrate what the city has to offer and our music is among the best in Africa so we need to appreciate and showcase it during the Festival”.
With this year’s Festival, KCCA is promising to up the ante for Kampala dwellers and the visitors that shall attend by delivering an experience that will be unique and memorable. The Kampala City Festival will consist of a programme of over 200 events and activities that cross the worlds of business, fashion, art and culture, entertainment, technology and industry to engage the whole family and general public.
Added Jennifer Musisi, “I believe music is instrumental in bringing societies together and Kampala dwellers should come out in their numbers to celebrate not only music, but all the other achievements as a City”.
