Salomon Kalou has admitted that he rejected a move to Arsenal during the January transfer window as he wanted to finish the season at Lille.
Arsenal failed to sign an attacking player over the transfer window to support lone frontman Olivier Giroud, while Gervinho left the club to join Italian giants Roma.
The inexperienced Yaya Sanogo has only featured four times this season, while midfielder Kim Kallstrom is yet to get off the mark after his arrival from Spartak Moscow.
“A possible departure? Yes, to Arsenal. It could have been done as a last minute loan,” Kalou told L’Equipe in an interview, admitting he preferred to win the Coupe de France before preparing for the World Cup.
“But I want to finish third, prepare for the World Cup and go to the Stade de France to compete in the final of the Coupe de France.”
Kalou’s previous Premier League experience comprised of six year stint at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea.
