The Ugandan camp has been boosted by the return to fitness of skipper Emmanuel Okwi and defender Savio Okwi ahead of Monday’s Group C encounter against Eritrea at City Stadium.
Okwi missed Uganda’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in the ongoing GOtv Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Nairobi through a joint problem and a fever while Kabugo was stretched off in the that game following a careless kick in his knees by Amavubi’s Meddie Kagere last Friday.
But the duo trained well with the rest of the team on Sunday to the satisfaction of Cranes assistant coach Kefa Kisala.
“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”
“They trained well and should be good to face Eritrea,” said Kisala, who had earlier expressed worry in defence with the likely absence Kabugo.
Head coach Micho Sredojevic’s Cranes will be looking to picking up maximum points off the Red Sea Camels so as to make the last eight with a game to spare.
They are currently level on three points with Sudan, but the latter, who beat Eritrea 3-0, topping thanks to a superior goal difference.
Eritrea, who are still recovering from a reported disappearance from camp of two players, must avoid defeat against Uganda to stand any chances of staying in the competition.
Micho is expected to start with the same team that opened against Rwanda, but with Emmanuel Okwi expected to have a role at some point.
