Former Onduparaka FC coach Allan Kabonge along with Kampala Capital City Authority FC’s Mike Ray Mutebi and Vipers George Best Nsimbe have been nominated for the Coach of the year award in the 2016 Airtel FUFA awards.
Coach Allan Kabonge guided Arua based side Onduparaka Football Club to their promotion into the topflight (Uganda Premier League) before crossing to FUFA Big League side Masavu Football Club (Rwenzori Group). He also led the Caterpillars to the 2016 Uganda Cup finals in which they lost 3-1 to Vipers SC at Nakivubo Stadium.
On the other hand, Coach Mike Ray Mutebi guided KCCA FC to their record tenth league title last season. Under his charges, the Kasasiro Boys are also currently sitting top of the Azam Uganda Premier League table with 28 points from twelve games.
Elsewhere, coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe, after parting ways with Tanzanian top tier side Azam FC joined local league side The Saints FC from which he crossed to Vipers Sports Club and guided them to their maiden Uganda Cup title. The Kitende based club who currently host their home games from Nakivubo stadium where also runners up in the Azam Uganda Premier League last season under his command.
The Airtel FUFA awards 2016 are scheduled to take place on Friday, 2nd December at Speke Resort Hotel, Munyonyo.
