Justin Bieber is trying to make amends for his ‘arrogant’ and ‘conceited’ behaviour.
The troubled 20-year-old pop star, who has been in and out of trouble with the law, posted an apology to his fans on Wednesday.
Bieber taped himself in a lengthy – and emotional – video where he voiced regret over his recent ‘bad boy’ behaviour.
‘I just wanted to make a video because I wanted to express how I feel right now,’ the Baby hitmaker began in the video posted to his Twitter account.
The Canadian crooner added that he had been on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier that day and ‘was really nervous.’
‘I think I was nervous because I was afraid of what people are thinking about about me right now,’ Justin explained.
‘It’s been a minute since I’ve been in a public appearance, and I didn’t want to come off arrogant or conceited or basically how I’ve been acting the past year and a half.
‘I’m not who I was pretending to be. Why I say I was “pretending” is often we pretend to be something we’re not as a cover up of what we’re truly feeling inside. And there were a lot of feelings going on in there.
‘Just being young and growing up in this business is hard. Just growing up in general is hard.”’
He continued: ‘I just felt awkward up there. I felt like people were judging me, and I really want people to know how much I care, how much I care about people, and how I’m not that person to say, “I don’t give a f***,” you know? I’m not that kid.
‘I’m a person who genuinely cares. And although what’s happened in the past has happened, I just want to make the best impression on people and be kind and loving and gentle and soft.
‘And although people can call me a “softy,” that’s how my mom raised me.’
Justin had also tweeted to Ellen, writing, ‘Good seeing u today @TheEllenShow. Happy birthday! Sorry I was so nervous,’ to which the talk show host replied, ‘You were perfect. Thanks for surprising me!’
He told Ellen on the show: ‘I think it’s just cool to be able to laugh at yourself so. I’ve done some things. That might not of been the greatest. I just want to be able to ya know. And kind of just kind own up to some of the things.’
This past year saw the singing sensation get his first ever police mugshot, get charged with DUI, be accused of speeding and get caught on camera peeing into a restaurant’s mop bucket.
