He recently got back together with his former flame Karrueche Tran.
But that hasn’t stopped R&B bad boy Chris Brown from hanging out with his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, with whom he has had a tumultuous on/off relationship since he was convicted of assaulting her in 2009.
The Fine China singer insists the pair are just friends ‘right now’, but appeared to suggest they hadn’t ruled out a romance in future.
He said on US TV show Entertainment Tonight: ‘We’re friends. Nothing too serious… We’re not trying to start a life together right now, we’re just having fun.’
Fans have speculated that Drunk Texting, a track on the 25-year-old star’s new album X, is about Rihanna, but Chris doesn’t mind the rumours because he thinks it encourages record sales.
Asked if the song is about the Bajan beauty, he replied: ‘Oh no, not at all.
‘I think that’s just the fans’ perception or the media’s perception at all times because of our history.
‘But whenever we do music, people can make the assumption and that’s fine because if they buy more because they think that, then go ahead and buy a thousand copies.
‘But as far as me writing and going into that, I don’t really try to put my focus on Rihanna every song. At the end of the day it’s almost six, seven years later.
‘It’s like, how many more times am I going to talk about the same situation?’
Chris – who spent 108 days behind bars for violating his probation when he allegedly made threats about using guns while seeking anger-management treatment in rehab earlier this year – says he has become a more ‘humble’ person in recent months.
He admitted he has finally been able to move past his shocking attack on his former girlfriend.
He said: ‘You have to forgive yourself. You can’t beat yourself up over the years, because it’ll just eat at you and you’ll be stuck in the past.
‘And for me, I just learned to be a more humble individual and more of a conscious person.’
