“Year after year, we realize that our customers are always looking for other services. And that is why we are today launching flight services, our new product that will enable travellers book flights via our platform,” said Loius Badea, country manager of Jumia Travel Uganda. “We aim at creating a one-stop travel shop online in Africa providing accommodation, packages, and flights all on the same platform.”

He further revealed that they are working with different partners to offer the best rates to their customers.

“We have partnered with almost 500 airlines in the world and our platform will allow our customers to browse offers by the different airlines to find the best comparative prices, and book flights, as well as buy air tickets online with ease,” he added.

However, customers can only book flights using their credit or debit card, with the other options, which are yet to be rolled out, being use of MTN mobile money or paying directly at their offices.

Meanwhile, the company recently launched its holiday packages to foster domestic tourism in Africa and by including flights in its packages, Jumia Travel will continue supporting easier access to both African and universal destinations, while at the same time remaining keen to maintain “off-the-beaten path” travel solutions.
