Julie, who left Uganda after separating from her ex-husband, Pastor Steven Mutesasira, had made headlines in 2020 when she married her partner, Jean, in Canada — a development that sparked widespread debate and criticism among Ugandans, particularly in light of the country’s strict anti-homosexuality laws.
