After about eight years of not holding any major concerts, it was not surprising that a 2-hour performance could not satiate Juliana’s fans who graced the “Boundless” concert that was held at the Kampala Serena Victoria hall on Friday.
Juliana ambled to the stage at 9pm dressed in a sequined white top matched with white pants. She completed the look with a train, sweeping the floor, as she made her entrance to the stage. She was welcomed with loud cheers and ululations from the eagerly waiting fans, who at this time had filled Victoria hall to the brim.
She kicked off the evening in an exaltation mood, singing her gospel song, “Kanyimbe”. She followed it with a cover of Mercy Chinwo’s “Excess Love”, also a gospel song.
She then switched gears to a more upbeat vibe as she performed songs like, “Tobanakutya”, “Mundeke” and “I am still here”. This threw the crowd into a frenzy as the now excited revellers sang and danced along to their favorite songs.
The show was without surprises as she brought Sweet Kid out of retirement to perform their popular collabo, “Silina”, much to the delight of the crowd. There was also an appearance from Aziz Azion, who held fort as Juliana took a breather for a costume change.
Juliana returned in an all-black ensemble, and went on to perform several crowd favorites like “Nakupenda”, “Nabikoowa”, “Twalina Omukwano”, and “Woman”, a song she performed alongside her sister Laura Kahunde, and was dedicated to their mother, who was in the audience.
Juliana wrapped up the show with her hit single “Kibaluma”, and thanked the fans for showing her so much love.
However, revelers remained in their seats, not realizing that indeed the show had ended. They begged for an encore, but Juliana was done. And that is the thing with all sweet things, you can’t get enough. It was a sweet and memorable concert!
