JUAN MATA has taken the unusual step of thanking the Chelsea fans that traveled to Old Trafford to watch the Blues take on Manchester United yesterday.
It was the Spaniard’s first appearance against his former side since joining United in January and he praised the home crowd for the atmosphere inside Old Trafford.
But after the match, Mata also revealed his gratitude towards the Chelsea fans who supported him during his time at Stamford Bridge.
He said: “As always, the atmosphere in Old Trafford was spectacular. Your support this season is vital.
“It’s worth mentioning the Chelsea fans in Old Trafford; their affection comforts me and, as I have said so many times, I will always feel grateful to them and to the club.
“I feel there is mutual respect and this is very important for me in all aspects of life.”
