Jose Chameleone is set to travel to the United States today for specialized medical treatment, thanks to sponsorship from President Yoweri Museveni.

Chameleone, 45, was recently diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, a condition worsened by his drinking habits, according to his son Abba Mayanja.

Days ago, reports surfaced that President Museveni had directed State House to fully cover the artist’s treatment abroad.

The news was confirmed by Balaam Barugahara, the Minister of State for Youth and Children’s Affairs, during his visit to Chameleone at Nakasero Hospital on Saturday.

In an emotional message, Chameleone expressed his gratitude to the President for consistently supporting him in his health battles. He recalled how Museveni had previously funded his medical bills in the United States last year but regretted not personally thanking him at the time.

“I don’t know if you still remember, but when I first got ill, you sent me money for my treatment. Unfortunately, I never got the opportunity to come and thank you,” Chameleone said.

In return for the President’s continued support, the “Wale Wale” singer pledged his unwavering loyalty during the upcoming election season, set to kick off next year.

“I am going out to have my engine repaired, and when I am back, I shall be with you everywhere,” he promised.
