League debutants Jinja Municipal Council Hippos stunned Express F.C by 2-0 in Jinja at the Kakindu stadium on Tuesday evening in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL). Team captain Richard Wandyaka led by example when he scored to send his side into the lead before Musa Walangilira netted the second to ensure a 2-0 victory for the Hippos.
Elsewhere, The Saints F.C fell to Jinja based side Sadolin Paints as they lost 1-0 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. The result saw the Saints drop back into the relegation zone after Sport Club Victoria University (SC VU) beat Maroons by 1-0 on the same day.
Moses Besana’s side is now in 14th place on the 16 team log while Victoria University climbed to 13th place with 19 points. The victory for Sadolin saw them move 8 points clear of the relegation zone as they remain 12th place with 25 points from 20 games.
At the Muteesa II Memorial Stadium in Wankulukuku, home side Lweza FC shared the spoils with Uganda Revenue Authority FC in a one-all draw. Defender Allan Munaaba scored in the back of his own net to give the Kajjansi boys a 1-0 advantage by recess while Elukana Nkugwa leveled matters for the Tax collectors just three minutes into the second half.
Meanwhile, at the champion Stadium of Mwererwe in Matugga, Bright Stars and Bul F.C played to a goalless draw as the hosts extended their second round unbeaten run to four games.
