Jenva: The Rising Star Blending Afro Beats and Hip Hop

Shafic Lwobawo, known in the music world as Jenva, is a true multitalented force pushing boundaries, blending genres, and breaking stereotypes. Born on July 29, 2000, Jenva hails from the pearl of Africa, Uganda. Raised by a single mom alongside his seven siblings in Jinja, Uganda’s second-largest city.

From Modeling to Music

Jenva’s creative journey began in fashion. At the age of 17, he made his mark as a fashion model, collaborating with renowned brands such as Zalando, Puma, and Adidas. His modeling career flourished, but his passion for music always simmered beneath the surface. He started his music career as a freestyle rapper on the streets, where his talent quickly became evident.

Musical Inspirations and Achievements

Inspired by Ugandan stars like Radio and Weasel, Eddy Kenzo, and more, Jenva seamlessly blends Afro beats with the lyrical prowess of Hip Hop. His early hits, including “Nana,” “Soweto,” and “Hakuna Matata,” reflect his diverse influences and showcase his ability to create catchy, meaningful music. Singing in church also honed his vocal skills and stage presence, contributing to his early success.

Current Projects

Jenva is currently based in Switzerland, where he continues to expand his musical horizons. He is working on an EP titled “Different Vibe” in collaboration with Swiss rapper $aid. This project is a cultural mix, bringing together the rich sounds of Afro beats with the energetic style of Swiss Hip Hop. The EP features standout tracks like “Yeye,” which have already garnered significant attention.
